WHAT IS LYMPHEDEMA?
Lymphedema is a chronic condition that occurs when the lymphatic system is impaired, leading to swelling and discomfort in the affected tissues. It can develop due to genetics, lymph node removal, radiation, surgery, trauma, infection, or systemic conditions such as cancer, lupus, or vascular compromise.
Many individuals experience early symptoms including heaviness, tightness, fullness, or changes in sensation or skin texture in an arm, leg, breast, or trunk.
Left untreated, symptoms can progress and interfere with daily activities, comfort, and quality of life.
