Headaches and Migraines

Headaches and migraines are complex conditions that often involve more than one system of the body. Effective treatment begins with understanding why the headache is occurring, rather than simply treating the pain.
Our approach evaluates the different systems that may contribute to headache and migraine symptoms, including the cervical spine, musculoskeletal system, vestibular system, visual system, and neurological factors. Lifestyle factors are also assessed, including diet, nutrient deficiencies, stress, and sleep.
Looking at these systems together can provide a more complete picture and help guide a treatment plan tailored to each patient.
Tension and Cervicogenic Headaches
Headaches often originate from structures in the neck and can be associated with neck stiffness, restricted movement, muscle tension, or dysfunction of the cervical joints. A thorough orthopedic and cervical evaluation can help determine whether the neck is contributing to headache symptoms.
Vestibular Migraines
Vestibular migraines can involve dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, motion sensitivity, visual sensitivity, and other vestibular symptoms, sometimes with little or no headache pain. Evaluation of the vestibular system, along with the cervical and musculoskeletal systems, can help identify the factors contributing to these symptoms.
